Many first-year college students are undecided about their majors. Most American colleges and universities expect students to declare their major at the end of their second year of study. This gives students time to take courses, including the liberal arts requirements, in a number of fields before students settle on a major.

During the first two years as an undergraduate, students can take electives to sample several areas of study. Whether they choose electives as a way to test-drive a major or simply learn more about a subject of interest, electives are a great way to explore new ideas.

Students are expected to have a well-rounded education. No matter what major you choose, students will probably be required to take electives as ‘general education’ or ‘general core’ requirements. These include (but are not limited to) humanities, foreign language, social sciences, math, biological sciences, and physical sciences.

Each participant’s desired field of study is a major priority for both the participating institutions and Go Campus. Institutions offer scholarships that apply towards the participant’s academic major of choice or similar.
